A Shared Agreement for Our Learning Community

(Open for Family Input & Conversation)

    A Note to Our Families

Lety's House Learning Pod exists because families came together around a shared hope: that children could learn in a place that feels safe, joyful, faith-filled, and deeply personal.

Learning Pods are intentionally flexible by design. Rather than relying on outside regulations to define our culture, we believe the strongest communities are built through shared values, trust, and clear expectations.

It is a living agreement - created with families, shaped by families, and held together by care for our children.

We invite your thoughts, questions, and suggestions as we shape it together.

    Our Shared Mission & Vission

    Our Mission

To nurture a bilingual, Christ-centered learning environment where children feel known, loved, challenged, and supported - academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.

    Our Vision

We imagine a learning community where:

    • Children are seen as whole people, not numbers
    • Faith, language, curiosity, and kindness are part of everyday life
    • Learning happens indoors and outdoors - through play, exploration, and real experiences
    • Families and educators work together with openness and trust

    Accreditation & Educational Standards

Community Preschools is accredited through Cognia, a nationally recognized accrediting organization committed to continuous improvement and educational excellence.

Our program aligns with research-based best practices and Early Learning Standards that support children’s academic growth, social-emotional development, and overall well-being. Families may review our Early Learning Standards for additional detail on instructional goals and expectations.

    How Children Learn Here

We believe young children learn best when they feel safe, engaged, and joyful.

    Our approach blends:

    • Gentle structure and predictable routines
    • Play-based and hands-on learning
    • Bilingual language exposure throughout the day
    • Daily outdoor exploration and movement

    Christian values are modeled through:

    • Prayer and gratitude
    • Character-building moments
    • Kindness, service, forgiveness, and respect

Everything we do is designed to be age-appropriate, nurturing, and developmentally supportive.

    Group Size, Ratios & Quality

We intentionally keep group sizes small because children thrive when they are truly:

    • Student-to-educator ratios follow best practices recommended by leading early childhood organizations
    • Small groups allow for:
      -Strong relationships
      -Individual attention
      -Emotional support and regulation
    • Infants:
1 adult for every 3-4 children
    • Toddlers:
1 adult for every 5-6 children
    • Pre-K:
1 adult for every 8-10 children

    These ratios allow educators to:

    • Respond quickly to children's needs
    • Build strong, trusting relationships
    • Support learning, safety, and emotional regulation

    Educators are supported through:

    • Ongoing coaching and mentorship
    • Professional development
    • Thoughtful reflection and observation

We choose quality not because we have to - but because it's what children deserve.

    Curriculum, Assessment & Instructional Quality

Our curriculum is developmentally appropriate, play-based, and aligned with early learning standards that support whole-child development.

    Instructional quality is supported through:

    • Classroom observations conducted regularly
    • Use of CLASS (Classroom Assessment Scoring System) to measure the quality of teacher-child interactions
    • Ongoing instructional coaching and reflection

Assessments and observations occur on established timelines to monitor progress, inform instruction, and support each child’s growth academically, socially, and emotionally. Families will be informed of general assessment practices and timelines as part of our commitment to transparency.

    Outdoor & Experiential Learning

Nature is an important part of our classroom.

    Children regularly engage in:

    • Gardening
    • Caring for animals (like chickens and their coop)
    • Outdoor play and exploration
    • Learning responsibility through stewardship

Families understand that meaningful outdoor learning includes:

    • Dirt and mess
    • Weather-appropriate outdoor time
    • Real-world problem solving

Some of the most important learning happens with muddy shoes and curious hands.

    Our Commitment to Bilingual Learning

    Lety's House is intentionally bilingual.

    This means:

    • Both languages are used naturally throughout the day, with Spanish serving as the second language
    • Children are encouraged to listen, speak, and explore language with confidence

    Families support this by:

    • Encouraging positive attitudes about bilingualism
    • Respecting both languages used in the environment

    Family Partnership & Community Care

This Learning Pod works because families are part of it.

    We ask families to:

    • Communicate openly and respectfully
    • Address questions or concerns directly
    • Work with educators in a spirit of collaboration

    To protect trust and community:

    • Gossip or public criticism is discouraged
    • Concerns are handled with care and intention

Strong communities grow when adults model the values we hope to teach children.

    Guidance, Behavior & Growth

Children are learning how to be in the world - and we guide them with patience and care.

    Our approach focuses on:

    • Clear expectations
    • Emotional coaching
    • Helping children repair harm and learn from mistakes

Families and educators work together to support consistency between home and school whenever possible.

    Leadership & Decision-Making

As part of our commitment to instructional quality and professional growth, Leticia will be transitioning into a Senior Instructional Coaching role. In this capacity, she will support educators through observation, coaching, curriculum alignment, and instructional best practices to ensure consistent, high-quality learning experiences across the program.

    Educational leadership is responsible for:

    • Curriculum and instruction
    • Staffing and safety
    • Program design and daily operations

Family voice matters and is welcomed through:

    • Ongoing conversations
    • Feedback opportunities
    • Annual review of these agreement

Final decisions are always guided by:

    • What is best for children
    • Long-term sustainability
    • Educational integrity

To support personal privacy and the full utilization of the space, the Director will no longer reside within the home. This change allows the entire property to be maximized as a dedicated learning environment, enhancing instructional spaces and student experiences.

    Our Faith Foundation

Lety's House is rooted in Christian values.

    Families agree to:

    • Respect the faith-based foundation of the program
    • Support an environment centered on kindness, humility, service, and love
    • We all promise to respect the faith of other families and their expressions even if different than our own. We believe there is strength in valuing differences

Participation is always age-appropriate and grounded in care.

    A Living Agreement

This agreement allows us to grow with our community.

    • Families are encouraged to offer feedback
    • Revisions may be made as the community evolves
    • Once finalized, continued participation reflects shared commitment

    Safety & Transparency Commitment

As part of our shared commitment to safety and trust, all staff members will undergo background checks.

    In addition:

    • Safety practices and procedures will be clearly defined
    • Relevant safety documentation will be available for parent review
    • Families are welcome to ask questions or request clarification at any time

Safety is not assumed - it is shared, visible, and continuously upheld.

    Camera Monitoring & Facility Safety

To further support safety and accountability, camera monitoring is in place at entrances and exits.

    These measures help ensure:

    • A secure environment
    • That only authorized individuals enter and exit the facility
    • Additional oversight in support of child safety and operational integrity

Camera use is limited to safety purposes and handled in accordance with privacy expectations and ethical standards.

  • Community Input & Reflections

    We welcome your thoughts.

  • Family Acknowledgment

Once finalized, this page will serve as our shared agreement.

I have reviewed the Lety's House Learning Pod Community Bylaws and agree to support the shared values and commitments outlined above.
